JV North investment in 2021-26 Affordable Homes Programme hits £300 million

JV North members have reached the £300 million investment mark in the current Affordable Homes Programme (AHP).

The consortium, which comprises of 12 housing association and local authority partners, has allocated 71 schemes so far that will deliver 1,402 new homes.

Latest figures reveal funding came in the form of over £220 million of investment from members with the remainder Homes England grant.

Chair of JV North, John Bowker, said: “These figures continue to underline the consortium’s scale across the North West with our members in effect securing over £106,000 of grant every working day since we signed the 2021-26 AHP contract.

“Housing associations and local authorities join JV North because they have a big appetite to build homes as efficiently as possible and this remains undiminished.

“So our message to government ahead of the Autumn Budget is clear: ‘give us a fund to work with and we will deliver in volume’.

“We are calling for an additional £3 billion of funding and a two-year extension to 2028.  We also ask for short-term grant programmes of five years to be replaced with continuous, annual funding that is always available.”

JV North’s housebuilding in the current AHP has so far resulted in over 4,200 people benefitting from new homes.

Of these, 37% were for Shared Ownership, 29% Affordable Rent, 21% Social Rent and 13% Right to Buy.

In February, the consortium built its 10,000th home and passed the £1 billion investment mark in partnership with Homes England which resulted in 30,000 people receiving new homes.

JV North members are Bury Council, Cobalt Housing, Johnnie Johnson Housing, One Manchester, Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, Muir Group, Plus Dane Housing, Sovini, Stockport Homes, Torus, Weaver Vale Housing Trust and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.
