Peaks & Plains Housing Trust

We are a Macclesfield-based housing association with homes across Cheshire and the High Peak. We exist to help improve lives by playing a part in addressing local housing need.

At the heart of our strategic plan are three key priorities – to be a great landlord, a resilient business and to create great places to live.

This final strand expresses our desire to work with key partners across our patch to shape a varied and quality development pipeline that puts people at its heart.

We want to work with others to ensure we meet local housing need and support thriving neighbourhoods. Our ambitions also focus on the development of core tenures to ensure more affordable homes that are efficient to run.

The Trust is committed to placemaking. In particular, we are building more new homes along Sunderland Street, to increase the options for town-centre living in Macclesfield.

A key element of the programme will see Cobalt Housing adapting its homebuilding to meet Future Homes Standard criteria that includes new homes producing 75 – 80 per cent less carbon emissions from 2025 by using technologies such as solar voltaic panels and air and ground source heat pumps.

As well as investing £175m, Cobalt Housing will apply for Homes England grant funding via JV North and use the consortium’s framework to appoint local contractors and consultants wherever possible to deliver much-needed properties to help address the housing shortage.

A key element of this investment will improve homes and the wider community alongside Liverpool City Council, Liverpool City Region and other key stakeholders such as partners in education, health, the voluntary sector and its supply chain.
