A JV North member is investing nearly £30 million in a 186-home scheme to meet demand for high quality affordable housing in Wirral.
Torus is redeveloping the former Grade II listed Rock Ferry High School in a £28.6m scheme.
After receiving planning approval from Wirral Council, Torus is building a 102 apartment extra care scheme and 84 houses for shared ownership and affordable rent.
With partners Anwyl Group and Pozzoni Architecture, the scheme will regenerate a brownfield site and restore the protected listed building.
It will provide much-needed affordable housing options for first time buyers, downsizers and people with extra care needs.
Chris Bowen, Managing Director of Torus Developments, said:
“As an organisation we passionately believe in the power of place and creating homes people can enjoy for many years.
“We are delighted to be able to invest in the region of £30 million in Rock Ferry. This level of investment is transformative for neighbourhoods as well as giving a strong boost to Wirral’s economy.”
Homes England funding of £7.5m was secured and the project is expected to be completed in February 2023.
