Member Focus

Trafford Housing Trust (THT) is a founding member of JV North, helping to create the consortium in 2007.

THT has 18 active developments across the North West of England, delivering around 2,200 homes.  The development programme currently includes 53 per cent of homes for market sale to generate a profit and 47 per cent of homes for affordable tenures, including social rent, affordable rent, shared ownership and rent to buy.

Areas of focus include Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire, and THT works closely in partnership with contractors, developers, joint venture partners and local authorities.

Developments

Laurus Homes is the customer facing sales brand of THT, selling and marketing all homes for sale and shared ownership and providing the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

In October 2019 THT was acquired by L&Q, one of the UK’s leading housing associations and developers, managing more than 100,000 homes.

The acquisition is enabling THT to enhance its Quality Home Standard for its existing 9,000 homes in the North West, create the NW Foundation for social investment and supports a long-term ambition to create 20,000 new homes across the region.

Development teams in THT and L&Q work closely together and have delivered in excess of 3,000 high quality homes to date in the North West.

Key developments currently underway include Heath Farm Lane, Victoria Riverside, Whalley Manor, and Brown Street in Hale.

More than homes

Driven by a profit-for-purpose approach, surpluses on homes for sale cross-subsidise the delivery of affordable homes and are reinvested back into THT’s charitable initiatives, as the organisation seeks to tackle the housing crisis whilst also investing in projects to help eradicate poverty, homelessness and to strengthen communities.

THT is committed to leaving a positive and lasting legacy for the communities in which it is building homes.  Furthermore, THT is seeking to align investment in development with active asset management and seeking to regenerate existing neighbourhoods and estates across Trafford.
