Muir joined JV North in 2021 and has a long history of development having been established in 1968.

It owns and manages more than 5,500 homes across the country with core areas covering Cheshire, Warrington, Blackpool and Fylde and Huntingdonshire.

Muir’s aim is to provide a diverse range of housing solutions and associated services to meet the needs of existing and potential customers.

It puts residents at the heart of everything it does, looking to continually improve the quality of homes, services offered and the neighbourhoods in which residents live.

Developments

Muir has an ambition to develop as many new homes as possible with an initial target of at least 100-a-year over the next five years.

This will see it delivering a combination of Affordable Rent and Home Ownership products, which will be marketed through its recently launched ‘Homes by Muir’ brand.

Assistant Director of Assets and Growth, Alex Fury, said: “Our strategy for development is based on the overarching values of the organisation meaning that we will develop the right homes in the right places.

“We work across a diverse marketplace in the North West including some localities which are very affluent where we may seek to provide an affordable home ownership offer and others which have a clear focus around regeneration and investment that may be better suited to rented tenures.

“Decisions around which developments we pursue and what they consist of are considered carefully on their individual merits, driven by a focus on quality, environmental sustainability, demand and affordability.”

Going green

Muir Group is very much focussed on its group-wide approach to achieving Net Zero, not only on new developments but existing stock and the way the business operates.

Muir is in the process of defining its Net Zero strategy for new developments and will take a fabric first approach.

This will be supported by aspirational performance targets, the use of efficient design, high performing components, a planned move away from fossil fuels and the introduction of technologies which bring benefits for the environment and our customers such as car charging points and smart thermostats.
